Christmas in Brighton – 9 things you can’t miss
I probably should have done this blog in November but better late than never. There’s still lots to do in Brighton this Christmas, and into the New Year. Here’s 9 events I recommend you really don’t miss!
1. Ice skating at The Royal Pavilion
It’s billed as the most beautiful ice skating rink in the South East, and we have to agree. The wonderfully exotic Royal Pavilion looks over you as you skate and (in our case) slip around the ice. Make sure you have time for a glass of bubbly or a warming hot chocolate in the rinkside bar after. 5th November – 15th January 2017.
2. Burning the Clocks
A truly unique community procession through the streets of Brighton to celebrate the shortest day of the year. You can get involved and make your own or simply watch the procession of home made lanterns, ending on the seafront when all the lanterns are thrown onto a gigantic bonfire and then, for the finale, there’s a firework extravaganza. 21st December 2016.
3. i360 Christmas
Forget the family, or treat them all, to Christmas day on Brighton’s newest attraction, the i360. You’ll enjoy a flight on the i360 followed by a five course lunch in their Belle Vue restaurant. 25th December 2016.
4. Christmas Seed Giveaway
As we all know (or at least should try to remember), Christmas is about giving. Hats off to the team at the Royal Pavilion then, with their annual giveaway of Christmas greenery and seeds from the Royal Pavilion garden. 11th December 2016.
5. Dine like a King
The Royal Pavilion really goes for it at Christmas. In addition to their Royal Pavilion Christmas (runs until 4th January 2016) you can join them for a Christmas Banquet at the Royal Pavilion. You will have drinks and canapes followed by a three course dinner at the very table where George IV himself used to hold court. 9th and 16th December 2016.
6. Christmas Food and Drink Tour
Staying with the food and drink theme, we suggest you book yourself onto Brighton Food Tour’s three hour Christmas special. You’ll be topped up with festive food and tipples along the way and there are guaranteed discounts so you can buy your favourite foodie all their Christmas presents whilst treating yourself at the same time! 18th November – 22nd December 2016.
7. Santa Dash
You’ll have to be quick with this one as it’s happening in a few days. Join the Santa Dash along Brighton seafront in aid of local charity Rockinghorse. No suit required, you get one as part of your £17.50 entrance fee. 10th December 2016.
8. The Big Christmas Singalong
Another Christmas charity event, this time supporting the Choir with No Name and Brighton Housing Trust. You’ll be able to belt out all your Christmas favourites including Fairytale of New York and Rockin’ Robin. 20th December 2016.
9. Holiday on Ice
Well we started with ice skating so let’s finish with it. This year’s Holiday on Ice show is titled Believe, a modern day Romeo and Juliet story about desire, jealousy and true love. 4 – 8th January 2017.
That’s it. I do hope you have time to make at least one of these.
In the meanwhile, Merry Christmas!
